TROLLEY-MOUNTED DOPPLER / TSP / ABI / TBI BASIC REVIEW

Add to compare

ATYS Medical created a trolley-mounted doppler / TSP / ABI / TBI system that they call BASIC. BASIC is able to perform bilateral arterial and venous photoplethysmography examinations, ankle systolic pressure measurement, and Toe systolic pressure measurement for patients who show signs of vascular deficiency, specifically, in legs and feet.

Features

As mentioned, we’re looking at a trolley-mounted system that is able to perform TSP, ABI, and TBI through ultrasound doppler probes and plethysmography probes. As for what is included in the system package, you get the following:

  • The BASIC touchscreen monitor unit that displays live readings of PVR waveforms and systolic pressures collected via photoplethysmography probes and regular doppler probes.
  • Included in the package are two different regular doppler probes at 4 MHz and 8 MHz, which can be used for bilateral ABI and TBI testing.
  • A photoplethysmography probe is also included for the automated bilateral measurement of ABI and TBI.
  • Blood pressure cuffs are also included that inflate and deflate automatically — set up at a deflation rate that allows for efficient and accurate testing.

Tests Performed

With the BASIC vascular system, you can perform ABI and TBI tests with the use of volume plethysmography and ultrasound doppler testing. For the basic ABI and TBI testing, automatically deflating cuffs are included to ease the process.

To add to this, ATYS Medical also offers a module on their BASIC main unit that will allow for stress testing. Which is helpful in the determination of the patient’s vascular health over a significant period of time

TROLLEY-MOUNTED DOPPLER / TSP / ABI / TBI BASIC REVIEW

This trolley-mounted system from ATYS Medical is a top-notch system and one that should definitely be considered for your practice. You get a mixture of old and new technology, which should increase the accuracy of examinations and allow your patients to get in and out the door in an effective manner.

Pros and Cons

A list of the pros and cons of the BASIC ATYS Medical System.

PROS:

  • It’s great for performing quick and efficient bilateral ABI and TBI examinations (because of automatically deflating cuffs, doppler probes, and plethysmography probes.)
  • The fact that it is trolley-mounted also makes it effective as a ‘mobile’ solution for patients who are suffering from poor lower body mobility caused by their vascular disease.
  • A printer can be set on the trolley in order to print off results that come from the main BASIC unit — which processes results and patient information for documentation purposes.

CONS:

  • ATYS took a step forward in the right direction with the automated occlusion cuffs. However, the technology used in this vascular system can still be considered outdated. At least, in terms of its application of manual doppler testing.
