Summit Doppler L450VA – Vista ABI Vascular Doppler Review

Add to compare

The Summit Doppler L450VA is a model that belongs in their Vista ABI Vascular Doppler line. It is, much like the original Vista AVS from Summit Doppler, quite advanced for its age.  What with its automatically inflating cuffs, extra testing modalities, PC-support, and more.

Learn more about this vascular testing machine by reading the information we’ve laid out below.

Features

Because the Summit Doppler L450VA is a model of the Vista AVS, there is not much of a difference between the two. Overall, its features include the following:

  • The L450VA was created for Pulse Volume Recording (PVR) Arterial Studies, Segmental Studies, and Doppler Studies.
  • It’s a PC-based system (PC can be included with purchase) and offers two different testing modalities (Doppler and PVR) that can be used in order to conduct a variety of vascular examinations.
  • Unlike some vascular doppler machines, the L450VA is also capable of seated ABI examinations, which is great for testing patients with poor motor ability.
  • As mentioned in the beginning, the L450VA comes with automatic cuff inflation and deflation properties, which can help make the process more efficient.
  • A reporting software has also been included that can be used in order to export EMR compatible electronic files.
  • The only difference between the L450VA and the L500VA (the more advanced version) is the fact that the latter offers segmental testing.

Tests Performed

With the Doppler and PVR modalities, a variety of testing capabilities are offered by the Summit doppler L450VA. However, what sets the L450VA apart from some of the other machines out there (in terms of testing at least), is the fact that it can be used for seated ABI testing. Which, as mentioned, can be very helpful when testing patients with poor mobility.

Software Used

Although the Summit Doppler L450VA’s reporting software is not the most sophisticated, it is more than capable of reporting and storing the results of your examinations. The system is PC-based, however, so a compatible computer must be purchased in order to use it to its fullest

Summit Doppler L450VA – Vista ABI Vascular Doppler Review

The Summit Doppler L450VA is actually a fairly advanced vascular testing system. Of course, it does not quite match up with its counterpart from the same line (the L500VA), but it does a good job of matching a lot of the other advanced ABI machines in the market. That being said, however, there are definitely points that the L450VA is lacking in, which we’ll be covering in the Pros and Cons section below.

Pros and Cons

A list of pros and cons of the Summit Doppler L450VA – Vista ABI Vascular Doppler System.

PROS:

  • The Summit Doppler L450VA’s best feature is the fact that it can be used in order to conduct a variety of different vascular tests (with the included modalities.)
  • It also comes with a lot of included functionalities, like the auto-inflating/deflating cuffs and the reporting software that adds a lot to its efficiency.
  • There’s no denying that the system is a lot more cost-effective as well, especially when compared to its more advanced counterpart in the Vista ABI line.

CONS:

  • It’s meant to be a solution for smaller facilities that cannot afford the convenience provided by the more powerful systems, which means that it’s missing some of the features provided by the more advanced L500VA version.
  • One also has to remember that this is still a vascular doppler system, which is a proven-to-work but outdated system that has since been beaten out by the effectiveness of more innovated methods offered elsewhere.
