Hadeco’s line of Smartdop products are well-known in the industry for their innovative take in vascular testing. The Smartdop 45 Vascular Ultrasound Doppler that we’re going to be introducing today is one of their more basic models. It’s meant to be a portable solution to their Smartdop 30 EX tabletop doppler machine,

How does it fare when compared to some of the other portable solutions out in the market? Continue reading to learn more.

Features

Despite its compactness, the Smartdop 45 manages to pack in a variety of different features that set it apart from other pocket dopplers in the market. In fact, it’s probably larger than your average pocket doppler, but it functions pretty much the same with the use of the following features:

  • At the very top of the build is an integrated printer that is able to print out recorded waveforms for documentation purposes.
  • Below the printer is a monitor that displays recorded waveforms for analysis.
  • Flexible testing modules (PPG and PV modules) offered with the PPG probe and regular Doppler Probe included.
  • Smart-V-Link software that stores up to 30 different waveforms to be viewed, saved as EHR/DICOM compatible files, and printed.
  • Included functionalities: Battery-life indicator, optional on-screen keyboard, and doppler rolling cart.

Tests Performed

When it comes to testing, the Smartdop 45 offers a variety of modules that not many of its competitors in the market are able to provide. All in all, it’s capable of ABI, TBI, PPG, and multi-level studies. It can also be used for venous reflux, venous compression, and carotid studies.

This flexibility is thanks to the variety of accessories included. Accessories that are fully customizable, allowing you to pick and choose what you want to use based on the needs precipitated.

With the extra functionalities included, it’s hard to imagine that the Smartdop 45 is just your average handheld doppler. Koven has done a great job in making sure to pack as much as they possibly can in this compact build, which makes it perfect for facilities who require on-the-go solutions that won’t precipitate the use of the larger and more powerful vascular testing systems out there.

Pros and Cons

A list of pros and cons of the Smartdop® 45 Vascular Ultrasound Doppler System.

PROS:

  • Hadeco has managed to add as many functionalities with the Smartdop 45 as some tabletop vascular testing systems, despite its compact size.
  • It was also built for innovation in mind, so whilst it doesn’t use the most modern technology, it does offer more than just your average Doppler with its PPG and PV-Arterial modules.
  • The accessories included with purchase ensure that the device can be used to its full potential, allowing for the full customization of testing.
  • It was built for efficiency in mind, with the LCD monitor display, integrated printer, and the Smart-V-Link software.

CONS:

  • The Smartdop 45 is more than just your average vascular ultrasound doppler, but it’s still not on par with some of the more advanced systems out there (some of which have managed full automation.)
